Duratrax Mini Quake

The Duratrax Mini Quake is a 4WD RTR mini racing monster truck with a touring car-inspired chassis layout featuring a longitudinally-mounted motor mounted on one side and battery on the other. Steering, surprisingly, was provided by a standard-sized servo (which looked quite large in this 1:18 scale truck), and the ESC and receiver were separate, non-proprietary units. The Mini Quake features two oil-filled aluminum shocks at each wheel and grippy low-profile tires. The first production runs suffered a critical weakness at the differential outdrives, but Duratrax was quick to correct the flaw and release free upgrades to customers who experienced breakages. The suspension components are non-adjustable and made from a very pliable, impact-resistant plastic. The truck had great handling for an inexpensive RTR, but the early diff problems hampered sales. Proprietary wheel hubs and gear pitch plus the low-slung chassis all limited upgrade & customization options, and hop-up manufacturers released very few parts. A prebuilt Mini Quake SE edition rolling chassis was later released that included several key factory upgrades.
